Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States may impose tariffs in the Strait of Hormuz if negotiations with Iran fail when the declared 60-day ceasefire expires.
The US president wrote on his Truth Social platform: "No tariffs will be imposed in the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day ceasefire period, and no tariffs will be imposed after that period expires, unless the United States of America imposes them if no agreement is reached, in exchange for the services it has provided as a protector of Middle Eastern countries, and with the aim of compensating for past, present, and future costs."
