The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has announced the expansion of its operational fleet with the introduction of the IVECO T-WAY 480 modern firefighting and tanker vehicles, in a move aimed at raising the readiness of civil defence teams and enhancing response speed to incidents and fires, keeping pace with the urban and developmental growth witnessed by the emirate of Sharjah.

Major General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Authority, affirmed that the new vehicles represent a qualitative addition to the field operations system, reflecting the Authority's continued investment in the latest specialised technologies and equipment, contributing to improved firefighting efficiency and emergency response in line with best global practices.

Capabilities

The new vehicles are distinguished by advanced operational capabilities, including a water tank with a capacity of 16,000 litres, a main pump delivering 2,500 litres per minute at a pressure of 10 bar, alongside a remotely controlled roof-mounted monitor with a range of up to 90 metres, as well as an external foam system designed to handle fires involving petroleum materials and flammable liquids.

The design of the vehicles also incorporates the latest environmental standards, with low-emission, fuel-efficient engines that support sustainability goals and reduce operational costs, while maintaining the highest levels of performance and reliability across various operational environments.

This step comes within the Authority's strategy aimed at developing the civil defence system and enhancing community safety and the protection of lives and property, by providing the latest technical solutions that enable field teams to contain fires and reduce response times with high efficiency.
