Laboratory trials have indicated that an experimental drug designed to repair heart tissue, which recently received the green light for initial human trials, also holds potential for treating kidney tissue.
The drug, known as AD-NP1 and developed at the University of California, Los Angeles, is being developed to prevent heart failure following a heart attack by inhibiting the ENPP1 protein, which blocks full recovery.
