Poem by Mohammed Ahmed Al Marzouqi

Morning and evening we earn sins and repent,

And walk through this world with no real gains.

The lucky winner is he who sheds his sins,

And holds his soul to account before it is held to account.

Life runs on and its appointed end is counted,

At the very same moment and the fitting place.

The Knower of the unseen knows the hidden secrets of creation,

He alone decides who passes and who fails.

Be truthful and do good, and you shall become a beloved person,

Purify your heart of all its sediment.

The nature of mankind is forgetfulness, mistakes, and flaws —

Forgive, pardon, and apologise… and you are the winner.
