Poetry by: Abdul Hamid Al Douhani
I have an appointment with the old corner on… (Al Mansour Street)
My companions and I: (the solitary chair and the coffee of the absent)
I took from wishes what is equal to two sips of feeling
So that I might win back a dream I had forgotten until it knocked at the door…!
I, O (master dream), await an appointment that has no turn
Yet I came to you as one sights the crescent of Eid for those beloved
Come, lean your back against a bleeding heart and a foolish lover
And live the memory between ambition and a point of wonder
Imagine… this longing inside me needs an audience
To enumerate the reasons for the absence that let me down and repented
Imagine… I have nothing but absence and a broken spirit
Sharing the darkness in my coffee and becoming my companions
And I… my companions: (the solitary chair and the coffee of the aggrieved)
Have an appointment with (the old corner) without mention of reasons
