The 50th edition of the Duffa International Festival, one of the most prestigious international festivals, opens Friday in Tunisia with a varied artistic programme celebrating Tunisian and Arab song. The festival will be inaugurated by artist Shaimaa Hilali, whose participation carries a special significance as she renews her connection with Tunisian festival audiences through a show prepared specifically for the occasion, reflecting her artistic career and diverse musical repertoire.
Over decades, the festival has been a prominent artistic and cultural landmark, hosting leading Tunisian, Arab, and international artists at one of the most beautiful open-air archaeological theatres in the world.
The opening evening will also feature a documentary film chronicling the most significant milestones in the festival's history since its founding, in celebration of its cultural journey. The opening night is expected to provide an artistic launch worthy of the Duffa International Festival's golden jubilee, as Shaimaa Hilali meets her audience on the stage of "Rakhh", one of the world's most distinguished archaeological theatres.
Artist Shaimaa Hilali expressed her happiness at participating in the opening ceremony of the 50th edition of the Duffa International Festival, saying:
"Performing on the archaeological stage of Rakhh in Duffa is a great honour for any artist, and the value of this moment grows even greater when it concerns the inauguration of the golden jubilee of a festival that carries all this history and symbolism. I have taken care to prepare a special show for this occasion, and I hope it touches the hearts of the Tunisian and Arab audience."
