A Roman villa decorated with rare artistic mosaics has been discovered on the outskirts of the Italian capital Rome, after police were alerted to clandestine excavation work on state-owned land, according to CNN.
Excavation and study work at the villa is still ongoing, but archaeologists have so far uncovered an opulent entrance hall featuring an interior courtyard and a sunken basin for collecting rainwater, known as an impluvium.
