The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi organised the 'Rooted Movements' exhibition as part of 'Nomad Hamptons 2026' in the United States, in a step reflecting its commitment to advancing the presence of contemporary Emirati art on the international stage.

The exhibition was held within the framework of the department's ongoing strategic partnership with Nomad. Serving as a continuation of the success achieved at Nomad Abu Dhabi 2025, the show brought together works by three Emirati artists — Afra Al Dhaheri, Zuhoor Al Sayegh, and Azza Al Qubaisi — in an artistic experience that explored concepts of interconnectedness, heritage, and transformation through works drawing on memory, place, and identity, reimagined through contemporary perspectives.

The Watermill Center in New York State hosted the exhibition, which extended across its various spaces, addressing the cultural and environmental connections between Abu Dhabi and the Hamptons and exploring how stories, materials, and cultural identities travel across distances while retaining their roots and authenticity.
