Mohammed bin Rashid Library has announced a packed schedule of cultural, educational, and entertainment events for the month of July, featuring a diverse range of initiatives aimed at children, families, and students, alongside literary, heritage, and community events. The programme falls within the library's mission to spread knowledge, reinforce national identity, nurture creativity, and empower members of the community through quality cultural and educational programmes.
The library opens its summer programme with the "Namrah Bil Arabiya" (Let's Have Fun in Arabic) event, dedicated to non-Arabic-speaking children aged 5 to 12, with the aim of developing their communication skills and teaching them essential vocabulary through an interactive approach that combines education and entertainment. The event runs over ten days and includes creative and applied linguistic activities designed to instil a love of the Arabic language in children in a simple and enjoyable way, in collaboration with the "Nehki Arabi" centre.
As part of its national identity and heritage programme, the library is organising a series of events to mark the birthday of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him. These include an interactive poetry evening centred on the collection "Poems from the Desert", one of His Highness's most prominent literary works, first published in 2008. The collection was also translated into English and featured on international bestseller lists for two consecutive years.
The programme also includes a panel discussion entitled "My Story and Fellow Travellers", which examines the key achievements of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through a discussion of his book "My Story", with the participation of figures who witnessed the launch of Dubai's development journey. The session brings together personal memory and historical documentation, alongside a musical segment entitled "Sung Poems" performed by Emirati artist Tariq Al Manhaali.
Moving from the national identity and heritage programme to community empowerment, the library will host the third edition of the World Chess Day Championship, in cooperation with the UAE Chess Federation. The tournament will see an expanded field of participants, representing the largest number of contestants at the national level, in an important step towards spreading chess culture and raising its profile across different segments of society.
In collaboration with Salon Al Muntada, a literary session will be held to discuss the novel "Snouat Al Maghr: Margins from the Biography of a Stranger" by Emirati author Mariam Al Zaroni. The novel was published by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre under the "Qalam" creative writing programme, which aims to support national talent and enrich the literary scene with new Emirati narrative works. The novel follows the story of a character named "Gharib", born in Sharjah during a pivotal period in the history of the Arabian Gulf, when identities were being formed and borders drawn in their present shape.
Mohammed bin Rashid Library invites the public to register and participate in its events through its official website www.mbrl.ae, and to follow its social media platforms for the latest updates.
