Dubai's Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture, has announced the organisation of a workshop titled 'Antiquities: Between Discovery and Preservation', with the aim of highlighting Dubai's history and civilisational heritage and familiarising members of the community with the importance of the emirate's archaeological sites and the significant collections and discoveries they hold, which contribute to narrating the story of its development through the ages.

This comes within the framework of the authority's responsibilities and sectoral priorities aimed at entrenching awareness of the value of antiquities and their role in preserving the emirate's memory and cultural heritage for future generations. The workshop programme, which will be hosted by the Hatta Community Centre on 18 June, will include a series of specialised themes presented by a select group of experts and researchers in the fields of archaeology and heritage.

Dr Mansour Breik, an archaeology expert at Dubai Culture, will review the journey of archaeological work in Hatta and the most prominent sites it encompasses, from prehistoric times through to the Islamic eras. Mitha Al Mutaiwee, a senior archaeologist at Dubai Culture, will shed light on the 'Suhaila Archaeological Site' and its notable landmarks, alongside Dubai Culture's efforts and projects aimed at developing, preserving, and safeguarding the site.
