The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has announced the death of Susumu Tonegawa, the first Japanese national to receive the Nobel Prize in Medicine, at the age of 86.
Japan's Kyodo News Agency reported yesterday that Tonegawa, who passed away last Saturday, had received the Nobel Prize in 1987.
