His Excellency Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, has affirmed that the UAE's participation as guest of honour at the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair 2026 reflects the depth of the comprehensive strategic relationship between the two countries across various fields.
He made the remarks in a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Beijing International Book Fair 2026, which is being held at the China National Convention Centre in the Chinese capital from 17 to 21 June, in the presence of Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and representatives of the participating UAE entities and institutions.
Al Hammadi said that the UAE's selection as guest of honour for the second time at this fair is a reflection of the deep relations binding the two countries, noting that this year's UAE participation is distinguished by the presence of nearly 32 diverse national entities under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture, working to showcase the cultural, intellectual, and creative face of the UAE to Chinese and international audiences.
He pointed out that the cultural sector is witnessing continuous development at both the Chinese and global levels, particularly with the entry of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital tools into the sector, stressing that the UAE cultural content on display reflects the quality and diversity of the national product and familiarises Chinese audiences with the depth of the UAE's experience.
He explained that the primary objective of the participation is to promote Emirati culture, but the higher aim lies in moving towards stronger and more comprehensive relations with China, affirming that culture forms the essential pillar for developing relations between nations.
The "UAE House", supervised by the UAE Embassy in Beijing in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, is presenting a cultural and professional programme comprising more than 20 dialogue sessions and events covering topics of publishing, translation, creative industries, and UAE-China cultural relations, alongside signing sessions for Emirati authors, visual arts and Arabic calligraphy displays, and professional meetings with Chinese and international cultural and academic institutions.
The Beijing International Book Fair is considered one of the most prominent global cultural platforms, attracting thousands of publishers and cultural institutions from more than 100 countries annually, making UAE participation a strategic opportunity to strengthen the country's cultural presence and entrench culture as a bridge for civilisational communication between peoples.
