Student talents in the country's schools continue to offer inspiring models that affirm the role the educational environment has come to play in nurturing talent and developing students' capabilities in innovation and scientific research — in line with the United Arab Emirates' direction of entrenching a culture of creativity and sustainability, and preparing generations equipped with the tools of the future to help find solutions to developmental and environmental challenges.

Mohamed Yahya, who is preparing to enter Grade 10, is one such student who has managed to translate a passion for technology into practical projects serving sustainability and clean energy causes. Drawing on his interest in programming, design, engineering and mathematics, he has developed innovative ideas that combine technical aspects with environmental applications.

Over recent years, Mohamed has achieved a number of accomplishments reflecting his distinction in scientific and technical fields. He won the Hamdan Award for Medical Sciences in the category of outstanding student in a non-academic field, and achieved first place in the UAE's Emirates Codes hackathon in both its second and third editions consecutively — a result that demonstrates his advanced skills in programming and digital innovation.

He was also selected as an ambassador for safe digital life, as part of an initiative aimed at raising awareness of the responsible use of modern technologies and promoting concepts of cybersecurity and digital safety among students, through participation in awareness initiatives and programmes designed to build a safer digital environment.

During the current academic year, Mohamed Yahya has focused on developing projects related to renewable energy and environmental sustainability, driven by his conviction of the importance of harnessing technology to create practical solutions that support efforts to conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impacts.

Among his most notable projects is "Barjeel Al Sustainability", which features an innovative design aimed at generating clean energy by harnessing wind movement in a sustainable manner. Alongside it is the "Bio Flow" project, which presents a technical concept for producing energy from eco-friendly biological sources, reinforcing green economy concepts and innovation in the energy sector.

These projects attracted significant attention during his participation in the "One Day" exhibition organised by his school, where he won first place in the smart agriculture category after presenting 2 visual presentations showcasing how his innovations work, the stages of their development, and the prospects for their application in clean energy production and future uses.

Mohamed has also been keen to share his experience with his peers through an educational channel on YouTube, where he presents simplified content on programming and technology, with the aim of encouraging students to learn digital skills and promoting a culture of innovation among his peers — stemming from his belief that sharing knowledge is one of the fundamental pillars of building a knowledge-based society capable of keeping pace with rapid change.
