The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has announced the signing of a strategic agreement with UAE Electric Vehicle Charging, known as UAEV — the first charging network wholly owned by the UAE government — with the aim of enhancing and expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the emirate by deploying charging stations at a number of CDA sites, including neighbourhood councils and wedding halls, thereby improving access to sustainable transport solutions for residents and visitors.
The agreement reflects an integration between the two parties in support of national sustainability targets. UAEV is positioned as a leading national operator in developing the charging ecosystem, while the step underscores the CDA's proactive approach to embedding green infrastructure within its community facilities, contributing to the UAE's climate neutrality targets by 2050.
The first phase of the project saw EV charging stations activated at Al Rashidiya Council, Al Barsha Council, and Nad Al Sheba Council. Work to complete operations at Al Khawaneej Council, Al Warqa Council, and Al Barsha Wedding Hall is continuing through 2026, broadening the reach of charging services across CDA facilities and making them easier to access.
Expansion work in the second phase is scheduled to continue through 2027, covering Al Twar Wedding Hall, Al Aweer Council, and Hatta Council, within a shared vision to extend the EV charging network in support of Dubai's sustainable mobility agenda. The move also reflects the CDA's commitment to adopting clean energy solutions and sustainable practices across its facilities, in line with Dubai's sustainability targets and with the aim of enhancing quality of life for community members.
