An international research team led by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed a technology to refine crude oil without the need for high heat, using a simple, low-cost porous polymer membrane.
The study, published in the journal Nature, found that oil passes through the membrane and self-assembles highly precise filtration channels that allow light components to pass through quickly while effectively retaining heavy components.
