Oil prices rose as Iran escalated its attacks on countries in the Gulf region following United States strikes, threatening energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Brent crude futures gained $2.67 per barrel, or 3.51%, reaching $78.68 per barrel by 10:00 p.m. GMT on Sunday, while US West Texas Intermediate crude rose $2.48, or 3.47%, to $73.89 per barrel.
