Preliminary data released by Germany's Federal Statistical Office yesterday showed that the country's inflation rate fell to 2.6% in May, down from 2.9% in April. The number of unemployed people in Germany also declined in May compared with the previous month.

The Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg announced that the number of unemployed fell by 58,000 this month to reach 2.92 million, dropping once again below the threshold of 3 million unemployed.

According to the data, the number of unemployed remains around 31,000 higher than in May 2025. The unemployment rate in May stood at 6.3%, a decline of 0.1 percentage points compared with April.
