The United Arab Emirates recorded its highest-ever oil production level in June, with average output reaching 4.1 million barrels per day, according to the latest report from the International Energy Agency (IEA), in a move that reinforces the country's independence in production policy following its departure from the OPEC+ alliance.
The IEA noted that UAE production thereby surpassed the previous record of 4 million barrels per day, set in 2020.
The increase comes after the UAE's exit from the alliance at the end of April, which granted it greater freedom in determining production levels.
The report indicated that the UAE had been the boldest among Arab Gulf states in responding to oil market disruptions caused by the war in the region, relying on its large maritime fleet to transport crude and chartering additional tankers.
The IEA confirmed that most of the increase in UAE production and exports was achieved before the series of attacks targeting commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz during the current week, reflecting the swift recovery of UAE oil flows following the lifting of OPEC+ restrictions.
