Dubai Customs has confirmed that the operational indicators and proactive measures it implemented over the past period have contributed to enhancing Dubai's ability to turn challenges into opportunities, through an integrated operational framework that boosted trade flows and ensured the continued supply of vital goods to local and regional markets, despite the challenges posed by recent geopolitical shifts on global trade and supply chains.
Dubai Customs, in strategic partnership with Emirates SkyCargo — the logistics arm of Emirates airline — led an integrated operational framework that ensured the continuous flow of cargo through the Cargo Village at Dubai International Airport and the air freight centre at Al Maktoum International Airport. This contributed to accelerating customs clearance procedures, raising operational capacity, and reinforcing food and pharmaceutical security at both the local and Gulf levels, while maintaining the smooth flow of trade and supply chain efficiency.
Dubai Customs confirmed that the operational indicators reflected the efficiency of the emirate's logistics framework and its success in responding swiftly to global developments. The total volume of imported goods cleared through customs at the Cargo Village at Dubai International Airport and the air freight centre at Al Maktoum International Airport rose from 26,559,019 kg in January 2026 to 48,259,442 kg in May 2026, a growth rate exceeding 82%, reflecting the resilience of operational processes.
The daily maximum volume of cargo handled rose from 1,236,537 kg in January to 2,106,645 kg in May, reflecting high operational capacity and exceptional flexibility in absorbing growing demand without affecting processing speed or service quality.
Dubai Customs confirmed that the impact of these efforts extended beyond the local market to encompass the strengthening of supply chain continuity across Gulf Cooperation Council states, with Dubai cementing its position as a regional logistics hub ensuring vital shipments reach their final destinations despite the operational shifts experienced across the region.
Support operations during May, carried out in cooperation with Emirates SkyCargo, included 529 logistics truck journeys transporting 2,636 tonnes of essential goods, comprising meat, pharmaceutical preparations, and general cargo. This contributed to establishing an effective logistics supply corridor that maintained the smooth flow of vital goods to Gulf markets, and reflected Dubai's readiness, the efficiency of its logistics framework, and its capacity to play a pivotal role in supporting regional trade and enhancing supply chain resilience during crises.
