As consumer expectations evolve rapidly, the latest survey data from HarrisX shows that 94% of shoppers in the United Arab Emirates consider free delivery across a wide range of products the most important feature of shopping memberships, while 92% seek fast delivery and 90% aspire to exclusive access to deals and discounts.

The figures extend beyond delivery alone to encompass long-term shopping habits, with 83% of consumers saying they value the bundling of multiple services into a single membership.

According to the study, 73% believe memberships make the shopping experience easier, while 69% said they increase the likelihood of returning to the same retailer, and 60% confirmed that fast and reliable delivery becomes more important during busy periods and peak seasons.

These statistics coincide with notable shifts in purchasing behaviour during a summer season packed with sporting events, with 34% of consumers in the UAE planning to buy products such as televisions, speakers, and snacks, while nearly half (47%) place preparing food and beverages for guests at the top of their priorities.

Stefano Martinelli, Vice President of Amazon for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, confirmed that in response to market requirements and the survey findings, Amazon has launched its Prime Day event in the UAE running until 30 June, offering millions of exclusive deals to Prime members alongside ultra-fast delivery options.

Martinelli explained that this year's event opens the summer season with seven days of major discounts across more than 30 product categories, covering leading local and international brands in electronics, toys, beauty, fashion, and home goods, as well as trending products from Amazon Bazaar and everyday essentials and fresh items.
