As part of the 'AIM Talks' initiative, Fahad Al Qarqawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, led a high-level UAE delegation in a series of strategic meetings in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, reflecting the growing momentum in UAE-China cooperation across industrial, technology, and future economy sectors linked to new growth drivers.
The meetings affirmed the growing role of 'AIM Talks' as a practical platform that brings together institutional dialogue, sectoral cooperation, and sustainable economic partnerships, consolidating bridges of cooperation between governments, the private sector, and technology institutions.
The UAE delegation included Maryam Al Shamsi, UAE Consul General in Guangzhou; Dawood Al Shezawi, President of AIM Global; and Raja Al Mazrouei, CEO of Etihad Credit Insurance, alongside a number of officials from the Tianhe District government, reflecting the high institutional level of UAE participation and its commitment to expanding the scope of cooperation with the Chinese side.
The visit featured a high-level bilateral meeting with Sun Zhiyang, Mayor of Guangzhou, to discuss aligning urban development plans with trade and investment cooperation opportunities with the UAE. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in transportation, smart mobility, finance, tourism, and new energy, with a view to establishing joint ventures and viable cooperation models.
During the meeting, the Chinese side presented its strategic orientations centred on artificial intelligence, new energy, and the low-altitude economy, affirming Guangzhou's readiness to deepen cooperation with the UAE in sectors of shared priority and to strengthen partnerships in innovation, infrastructure, and advanced technology.
For his part, Fahad Al Qarqawi affirmed that the UAE represents a pivotal regional hub connecting global markets and offering an advanced competitive environment that supports investment expansion, pointing to promising opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, finance, energy, infrastructure, tourism, and food security.
In a second stop, the UAE delegation visited PCI Technology, a company specialising in artificial intelligence solutions, where it was briefed on advanced models in smart city development, smart rail transport, and integrated urban mobility solutions.
During the visit, opportunities were explored to align Chinese innovation with UAE market needs, particularly in smart transportation and infrastructure, reinforcing Guangzhou's role as a strategic gateway within the UAE-China cooperation framework.
Her Excellency Raja Al Mazrouei affirmed that the UAE continues to integrate next-generation technologies into its transport system, including artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced railway monitoring systems, with the aim of enhancing efficiency, safety, and sustainability in transport infrastructure.
For his part, Huang Ying, Vice President and Director General of Public Affairs at the company, expressed the institution's interest in expanding its cooperation with the UAE market in smart transportation and advanced technology, encompassing technology transfer, project implementation, and joint industrial development.
The meetings concluded with reaffirmation that 'AIM Talks China' represents an advanced strategic platform that transforms dialogue into practical cooperation between governments and the private sector, supporting the building of sustainable partnerships in advanced technology and the new economy, and advancing UAE-China relations towards a deeper and more comprehensive phase.
