Dubai has ranked second in the world for the number of skyscrapers exceeding 200 metres in height, according to a list published by the global platform World Atlas of the top 5 cities hosting the tallest buildings in the world.

The platform noted that Dubai has succeeded, in just about half a century, in transforming vast stretches of its land into some of the most spectacular and impressive glass skyscrapers on the planet.

The report described the city's urban skyline as having been designed specifically to leave a stunning and unforgettable impression on all who see it.

The Burj Khalifa reigns supreme over this unique architectural skyline as the tallest building in the world, standing at 828 metres since its opening in 2010.

The global platform highlighted the tower's imposing presence, noting that the other skyscrapers that follow the Burj Khalifa in Dubai's rankings do not even reach half its height, making it the central focal point that draws the world's eyes to the city's skyline.

The Chinese city of Shenzhen came first in the world in this ranking, while Hong Kong placed third, followed by New York in fourth place and Shanghai in fifth.
