Majid Al Futtaim has announced the first-of-its-kind premium Carrefour Market concept at Jumeirah Park Centre, part of Dubai Retail, set to deliver a modern and distinctly elevated shopping experience designed to keep pace with evolving customer expectations. The launch marks a significant milestone in the brand's transformation strategy across the United Arab Emirates.
The new concept represents the first model of the next generation of premium Carrefour stores. Spanning more than 2,200 square metres, the store features a food-led design, with the space dedicated to fresh food and ready-meal sections increased from 25% to 38% of the total retail area. Among the concept's most notable features is the launch of Carrefour's first Bake House Café — a contemporary café designed to serve as a community destination offering freshly baked goods, coffee, and light dining options at the heart of residential neighbourhoods.
The store was officially inaugurated at a ceremony attended by Fazul Abdul Baqi Al Ali, Chairman of Majid Al Futtaim Holding; Ahmed Galal Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holding; and Dries De Hooghe, Managing Director of Retail UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, alongside representatives from Dubai Holding, including Farid Abdulrahman, General Manager of Shopping Destinations at Dubai Holding Asset Management, and Matthew Smith, Executive Director of Leasing — Shopping Destinations at Dubai Holding Asset Management.
The store opening forms part of Majid Al Futtaim's broader growth and transformation strategy for Carrefour in the UAE during 2026, which encompasses continued investment in store modernisation, the rollout of premium shopping concepts, enhanced customer experience, and the expansion of its branch network across both Carrefour Market and hypermarket formats. As part of this plan, the company intends to roll out the premium concept to several stores during 2026, reinforcing its commitment to developing its store portfolio and meeting the evolving needs of customers across the country.
