Experiments recently conducted by Chinese scientists have demonstrated the efficiency and effectiveness of blue light in combating bacteria and performing the role of antibiotics in the human body. The scientists used light in this context alongside specific treatments to heal wounds infected with bacterial infections, without the use of antibiotics. The method combines blue light with a nano-compound consisting of gold nanoparticles and graphene oxide quantum dots.
This method achieves three objectives simultaneously: killing bacteria, cleansing the wound, and creating the appropriate conditions for healing. According to numerous sources, the technology relies on the Schottky transfer effect — a special interface that forms when a metal bonds with a semiconducting material.
